About

I am an environmental geographer with specific expertise in climate resilience, urban nature-based solutions and geospatial science. I am experienced in leading high-quality impactful interdisciplinary research focused on developing sustainable solutions to current and future environmental challenges.

In February 2025, I left academia to pursue scientific research at the Environment Agency. I lead the Land team within the Chief Scientists’ Group. The Land team are an experienced group of specialists developing new knowledge on a range of land and water environment issues and across science disciplines. Current projects include researching the potential environmental implications of reaching net zero emissions; impacts, risks and control of pollution in soil, groundwater and surface water; and, nature-based solutions to support climate resilience. My role includes leading the Environment Agency’s Net Zero and Lowland Agricultural Peatland research programmes, and urban nature-based solutions research.

We collaborate with academic institutions on scientific research within the Environment Agency’s interests. This includes through UKRI research programmes/ projects (e.g. as Co-I or Steering Group members), PhD supervision, academic placements, etc. Please reach out if you would like to collaborate on the above topics.
